ITINERARY10-Day Pilgrimage
DAY 1: The journey begins!
Depart home for Portugal (North American departures). DAY 2: Lisbon, Portugal Arrive in Lisbon and meet your JMJcatholic Guide who will remain with you until the end of the journey. From the airport, enjoy a panoramic tour of the city of Lisbon (pictured above, right). Celebrate Mass at the birthplace of St. Anthony of Padua and take time to venerate his relics. Continue to Fatima for dinner and overnight. |
DAY 3: Santarém & Fatima, Portugal
Begin the morning in nearby Santarém for Mass at the Church of St. Stephen. Also known as the “Church of the Holy Miracle,” this parish is home to a 13th century Eucharistic miracle. Return to Fatima where, in 1917, Mary appeared to local children and the “miracle of the sun” occurred. After lunch, follow a Fatima native through a guided experience of the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. Then, visit the homes of Lucis, Francisco, and Jacinta - the children of Fatima - in nearby Aljustrell; the site of the fourth apparition in Valinhos; the parish church; and the cemetery. Return to your hotel in Fatima for free time. Reconnect as a group for dinner and to participate in the evening’s Candlelight Procession. Overnight in Fatima. |

DAY 4: Coimbra & Fatima, Portugal
Take a short drive to the town of Coimbra, home to Sister Lucia, one of the three children of Fatima that witnessed the apparitions of Our Lady. Celebrate Mass at the Carmelite Convent where Sister Lucia lived, pass through its Museum, and visit St. Lucia's cell. The day continues at St. Anthony of Olive Grove, where the great saint took his Franciscan habit. Visit the tomb of St. Elizabeth of Portugal at the Monastery of St. Claire before taking a break for lunch.
Return to Fatima by early afternoon to enjoy a free day for reflection and relaxation. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.

DAY 5: Albe de Tormes & Avila, Spain
Depart Portugal this morning for Spain. Make your first stop in Albe de Tormes, where St. Teresa died in 1582. Inside the Carmelite convent of the Annunciation is the tomb of St. Teresa and her remains are located in a reliquary above the altar. Next, arrive in the best-preserved walled city in the world, home of St. Teresa of Avila who, with her spiritual director, St. John of the Cross, reformed the Carmelite Order. See Avila through the eyes of your local guide on a tour of the ancient city. Visit the cell where St. Teresa lived, and see relics of both St. Teresa and St. John of the Cross. Celebrate Mass at the Monastery of the Incarnation. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Avila. |
DAY 6: Burgos & Zaragoza, Spain
Depart in the morning for Zaragoza. En route, tour the incredible Cathedral of Burgos. Watch pilgrims enter and pass as they continue along the historic Camino de Santiago. Arrive in Zaragoza and celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, where Mary appeared to the Apostle James before her Assumption into heaven. Take in the city with a free evening. Dinner and overnight in Zaragoza. |
DAY 7: Lourdes, France
Say goodbye to Zaragoza to head for Lourdes where, in 1858, Mary appeared to a young Bernadette Soubirous. Upon arrival in Lourdes, celebrate Mass in St. Gabriel Chapel in the Sanctuary. The rest of the afternoon is for relaxation, shopping, or sightseeing. Reconnect as a group for evening prayer and dinner, then join the traditional Candlelight Procession. Overnight in Lourdes. |

DAY 8: Lourdes, France
Following morning Mass, take a guided walk through the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. Walk the Way of the Cross while praying as a group.
See the sites of Lourdes: Visit the Grotto where Mary appeared to Bernadette, the Spring and the healing Baths, the Basilica of St. Pius X, the Rosary Basilica, and Bernadette’s home. The remainder of the afternoon is free for relaxation and private devotion.
Reconnect as a group for the evening Rosary (in French), dinner, and the Candelight Procession. Overnight in Lourdes.

DAY 9: Montserrat & Barcelona, Spain
Depart Lourdes for Montserrat and some of Spain’s most incredible scenery. Upon arrival, tour the Montserrat Monastery and grounds that are home to the Statue of Our Lady of Montserrat, possibly Spain’s most fervent devotion to the Blessed Mother. Celebrate Mass at the Monastery before departing for the coast. Enjoy a driving tour of Barcelona. See the famous Ramblas Boulevard, Barcelona’s main thoroughfare, as well as the enormous Basilica Sagrada Familia. The remainder of the evening is yours for independent exploration on this last night of your pilgrimage. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Barcelona. |
DAY 10: Departure
Bid farewell to your group over breakfast. Depart Barcelona on your return flight home, carrying the graces of this incredible Marian pilgrimage home to your family and friends.
Mass will be celebrated daily, except on air travel days. Daily activities may rearrange within the itinerary.
